Tara Reynor O'Grady
President, No Peace Without Justice
Tara Reynor O'Grady is the current President of No Peace without Justice. Through lobbying, advocacy and arbitration, Tara contributes to developing strategies to encourage positive and productive change, and appeals for the judicial accountability of those responsible for Human Rights aberrations. She monitors and investigates human rights violations and the international media coverage of events pertaining to Human Rights and social justice with specific focus on the Gulf and MENA region and Amazonias, and studies the scope of media impact on public opinion. She liaises with networks of advisors who explore opportunities for building collaborative partnerships with a view to pooling of experience and resources to have tangible ‘on the ground’ impact. Tara maintains relations and links with civil society, governments and NGOs and updates them on international efforts and briefs them on current events. She has participated at conferences from the Middle East to South America on promoting forms of democracy, capacity building for non-violent mobilisation of Civil Society and Transitional Justice. "I believe that in the case of an UnJust Law the only alternative for society is mass Civil Disobedience, and that this can only be legitimate and ultimately democratic, if undertaken with complete respect and submission to principles of Non-Violence and Equality". She is determined to be outspoken against cruelty and injustice, and participates in multiple focus groups, debates and international fora including at the United Nations, International Criminal Court and EU Parliament.
