Elena Avenati
Private Sector and SDGs Manager - Save The Children Italia
A graduate in Political Science from the University of Turin, with a Master's degree in European Studies from the College of Europe in Belgium, she has gained professional experience in the areas of international cooperation and sustainable development with several nonprofit organizations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Italy and abroad (Iraq and Burundi).
She has been with Save the Children since 2008, where she has been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising projects in the areas of education, nutrition, health, and poverty alleviation; developed relationships and partnerships with public institutions, foundations, and UN agencies; and coordinated networks of civil society organizations. In 2015 she introduced corporate social responsibility issues into the organization by linking them to the goals of the 2030 Agenda; since 2016 she has been leading the development of strategic partnerships with companies to support them in promoting human rights and defining development projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the local communities where the companies operate.
She has been associated with the CSR Manager Network since 2017, is part of the “private sector in international cooperation” working group of the National Council for Development Cooperation and is an active member of the “SDG 17” working group of the Italian Alliance for Sustainable Development.
